Supervisors performing OUR work

 

Article 1.6 of the Collective Bargainin Agreement reads:

Section 6. Performance of Bargaining Unit Work


A. Supervisors are prohibited from performing bargaining
unit work at post offices with 100 or more bargaining unit
employees, except:


1. in an emergency;
2. for the purpose of training or instruction of
employees;
3. to assure the proper operation of equipment;
4. to protect the safety of employees; or
5. to protect the property of the USPS.


B. In offices with less than 100 bargaining unit employees,
supervisors are prohibited from performing bargaining unit
work except as enumerated in Section 6.A.1 through 5 above or
when the duties are included in the supervisor’s position
description.

If you see a supervisor, postmaster, or another employee performing Clerk Craft work who shouldn't be, please fill out an observation sheet and notify the Union.  It's your work!  Don't let them steal it!

If you believe your postmaster is improperly recording their time, please contact the Union.  Postmasters in Level 18 offices without a supervisor are allowed 15 hours per week of Clerk Craft work.

PostPlan Staffing MOU

"In Level 18 post offices the postmaster is permitted to perform no more than 15 hours of bargaining unit work per week. In accordance with the M-32, postmasters or supervisors performing bargaining unit work will record what operation they are performing either by time clock or PS Form 1260 and will provide to the union upon request. In the event that there is a supervisor in addition to the postmaster in a level 18 office, either the postmaster or supervisor- but not both - may perform no more than 15 hours of bargaining unit work per week. The postmaster or any supervisors in Level 20 and above offices are not permitted to perform any bargaining unit work except as provided in Article 1 .6.A of the National Agreement.
